Dear students, faculty, course instructors and staff,
Welcome to a new academic year at York University!
As you join this community for the first time or as you return to your classrooms, offices and our shared spaces, I hope you are inspired, as I have been for my 23 years at this remarkable institution, by York's continued forward progress, guided by our values and vision as a welcoming and inclusive place committed to access, excellence, connectedness and impact.
From the Glendon Dining Hall to the Indigenous bench, from the Markham Campus atrium to the Lions Stadium at Keele, so many special places on our campuses tell a story of connection, innovation and shared humanity.
This is the last time I’ll welcome you to York as your president, and as I reflect on my time here, I wanted to highlight some of my favourite spots to share a meal, find some peace and gather together with community members in the hopes that you will also take a moment to reflect on what makes York so special to you.
