Indigenous Circle Workshop: 3 Indigenous ways of knowing & being that can help us all with medicine song woman, Brenda MacIntyre – Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 7:00pm-8:00pm

At Calumet and Stong Colleges, we strive to foster positive and respectful relationships with all community members. Our Indigenous Circle program allows students to access events and resources that help them learn about and strengthen their relationships with the Indigenous community. We invite you to join us via Zoom on Thursday, September 15th, 2022, from 7 to 8 pm for an engaging workshop called “3 Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Being that can help us all” hosted by Medicine Song Woman, Brenda MacIntyre.

In September, we recognize Truth and Reconciliation Day. The day honors the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.  Known by her Indigenous name Medicine Song Woman, York U alumna Brenda MacIntyre has shared her melodic mesmerizing voice, healing music and spiritual teachings with appreciative audiences of 30 to 3,000 across North America and thousands online. The London Ontario-based Juno Award-winning singer and keynote speaker has been featured on CTV, CityNews Toronto, APTN, Global and a front-page headline in the Toronto Star. She was a 2021 Pow Wow Pitch semi-finalist and a 2021 Ontario Arts Council Indigenous Arts Award nominee. Brenda’s goosebump-giving keynotes and workshops are highly interactive and evocative. Her Picking Up the Pieces 13 Moon Resilience and Reawakening program and Medicine Song Healing work help women to get through trauma, grief, and exhaustion, while embodying resilience and remembering who they are.
