Version 3 - April 12, 2022
Thanks for your interest in creating a website on York University’s 2020 WordPress Theme. Before we develop your digital property, please review and confirm you understand the terms below:
- In becoming an administrator on a York University Website environment, you agree to keep all your website content updated, only displaying relevant information to your target audience(s). This includes reviewing/updating the content on an annual basis to confirm it is still relevant.
- You confirm that you have reviewed all the digital tools and resources available in the Digital Experience Hub and Brand Toolbox and are following all the guidelines and rules to the best of your knowledge.
- You will only use Guttenberg Blocks and York University Patterns in your website designs. Any additional design input or plugins must first be approved by C&PA (Communications & Public Affairs) and UIT.
- You will not override the theme or design.
- You confirm that you have reviewed the information on the AODA Web Accessibility at York website. Your website team will continuously review and ensure your property meets AODA web accessibility requirements.
- You will not add any copyrighted material to the website. All media added will be owned or purchased by the department/unit/area responsible for content. Proper due diligence will be conducted to avoid any potential legal issues.
- You have submitted you and your team’s contact information to the Website Listerv. (This will make sure that you are aware of any updates or changes to the York website ecosystem). You will ensure that this contact information is kept up to date by informing C&PA of any changes. If you are no longer involved with the website, you will also ensure there is a website administrator for the website and their information has been shared in the link above.
- York University will review websites on a regular basis for design and brand consistency and ensure it is meeting institutional guidelines. If websites are violating any of the rules, a member of C&PA will reach out to the website administrator flagging the issue to update. The content owner will make it a priority to update within a two-week period.
- Any website that has not been updated in over a year will be reviewed by C&PA to determine if it is still needed. This is part of the institutional strategy to reduce digital clutter. This also requires that there be an active administrator on each website and should any communication be sent out to them from C&PA or UIT, they respond within a month timeline.
Failure to not abide by any of the rules or guidelines above could impact the visibility of the website as well as the possibility of further action including the digital property being removed in accordance with York University's Brand Stewardship Policy.
