About the Course
The course uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). A B1 (intermediate) level of French proficiency is recommended for participation. However, the asynchronous learning materials allow you to learn and prepare at your own pace.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Explain how to support job seekers based on their lived experiences and immigration status in Canada;
- Identify relevant resources to explore, change, or advance a career;
- Recognize high-demand sectors within Ontario's bilingual labour market;
- Recommend effective job search and application strategies;
- Use artificial intelligence to improve your professional efficiency;
- Support clients with greater confidence in French.

Shana Baptiste-Iseyemi is currently a career coordinator at the Career Development Centre at York University’s Glendon College and has a background in French studies, anthropology, and education. She has qualifications in guidance and career education, cooperative education, and curriculum development. In addition, she is a Certified Career Strategist (CCS) and Certified Résumé Strategist (CRS) provided by the Career Professionals of Canada.
Throughout her work at Glendon, Shana recognized a growing need for professional training in career development offered in French. She also observed that organizations across Ontario often face challenges in recruiting qualified bilingual career development professionals, highlighting the importance of expanding access to French-language training and resources in the field.
Drawing on her experience, Shana developed Councel with Confidence to support career development professionals who work, or aspire to work, with bilingual and Francophone job seekers. Whether they are expanding their practice in French or strengthening their existing skills, participants will gain practical strategies, tools, and confidence to better serve their clients in today's bilingual labour market.
To ensure the best learning experience, our group lessons run with a minimum number of participants. If a class does not meet this requirement, we will contact you to offer alternative options or a full refund.
