The basic admission requirement for candidates to the M.A. in Art History is an Honors B.A. or equivalent with at least a B (second class) standing from a recognized university, preferably with an art history major and studio experience.

An undergraduate major presupposes at least five full-year courses (or equivalent) in art history. Students from other disciplines may be required to spend a qualifying year taking appropriate undergraduate courses. In these cases, admission to the M.A. Program does not constitute formal candidacy for the degree.

The student will submit a written application to the committee for the candidacy.

  • Deadline for applications is February 15, 2023

Applicants for admission should hold a master’s degree in art history or a relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum A- average. This requirement may be waived if the student has had a long period of significant professional activity.
