Awards and Other Support Funds

Many graduate students at York are successful in winning prestigious external or internal scholarships and you are encouraged to seek eligible opportunities. The university also offers bursaries and other support funds to assist with your scholarly and research activities. Common types of funds include the following: 

Bursaries that are allocated based on demonstrated financial need;

Research support funds to cover expenses related to scholarly and research activities;

Graduate Program or Faculty Specific Awards

The Stephen K. Levine Award in Social and Political Thought benefits students (Masters or Doctoral) studying in the Graduate Program in Social and Political Thought, who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. This award was established by a York graduate to express gratitude to a former professor and friend. From 1971 to 2004, Levine was a professor in the Social Science Division and the Social and Political Thought Program at York University. He is also Dean of the doctoral program in expressive arts at the European Graduate School (Switzerland) and co-founder of The Create Institute, a three-year training program in Expressive arts Therapy (Toronto). He is also the author and editor of many books in the field of expressive arts, including Trauma, Tragedy and Therapy: The Arts and Human Suffering.
