HLST Course Permission Requests

Are you seeking to enrol in HLST courses? See information below and when, if and how you can request permission to enrol in HLST courses by term.

Exclusions:

Summer 2026

Enrolment for the Summer 2026 session for continuing students will begin on March 16, 2026. For details and your enrolment window, see the Undergraduate Enrolment and Registration Guide.

To enrol in Health Studies (HLST) courses:

  • You must meet all prerequisites requirements for the course (see course list).
  • If prerequisites are met and seats are available, you can enrol without requesting permission.
  • If you are unable to enrol in an Summer 2026 HLST course through the system, you may submit your request via email to shpm@yorku.ca (summer requests only). Please note that approval is not guaranteed. Requests will not be accepted by phone or in person.
  • Exclusion: HLST 3240 permissions requests are handled by the School of Human Resource Management

Fall-Winter 2026-2027

Enrolment for Fall-Winter 2026-2027 session for continuing students will begin in June 2026. Please check your enrolment date and time. 

To enrol in Health Studies (HLST) courses:

  • You must meet all prerequisites requirements for the course (see course list).
  • If prerequisites are met and seats are available, you can enrol without requesting permission.
  • If you are unable to enrol in an HLST course through the system, you may submit a HLST Course Permission Request Form. Please note that approval is not guaranteed. Requests will not be accepted by phone, email, or in person.
  • Exclusion: HLST 3240 permissions requests are handled by the School of Human Resource Management

Permission requests are handled by the office, not by the Course Director. The office reviews the requests for permission and reaches out to the Course Director if relevant. If you wish you receive permission, please complete the form as detailed above.

While you may ask for permission from the Course Director, please note that their permission is NOT a guarantee of being granted permission to enroll. Permission to enroll is based on other restrictions or conditions that may apply, for example, maximum course capacity or course prerequisites required.

Please note that permission to enrol after the last day to add a course are considered only in limited circumstances and are normally not approved.

Once you have clicked "submit", your request is forwarded to the office for review. Requests are normally processed within 2-4 business days. Your will receive the response (approval or denial) via email. Please plan ahead of deadlines - do not leave your request for the last minute.

  • Please keep in mind the following:
    • Permission will NOT be granted if prerequisites are not completed.
    • Course Instructor permission is NOT a guarantee of being granted permission to enroll based on other restrictions that may apply (example: maximum allowable enrolments (course is full) or course prerequisites required).
    • Please note that permission to enrol after the last day to add a course are considered only in limited circumstances and are normally not approved.
