Summer Term Residence
If you’re an undergraduate student needing housing during the Summer 2026 term, you are eligible to apply for Summer Residence at both the Keele and Glendon campuses.
Occupancy Dates
York’s summer session is divided into three terms. More information on sessional dates can be found at the York University Important Dates page. Students applying for summer residence at York can choose from the 3 terms that coincide with the academic terms.
Please note that early move-in and late-check out dates are not available during the summer term. Other options are available with York U’s Accommodation & Conference Services.

Current Residents
Current resident into Summer residence:
Students that currently live in Undergraduate Residence will be able to stay in their current room until their Summer Residence room is ready. Residents will be notified of the date they will move in via email. A mandatory $225 transition charge will be added to your account to cover the accommodation period between the end of the Fall/Winter term and the start of the Summer term.
Summer resident into Fall residence:
Residents who have accepted an room offer for the Fall-Winter 2026-2027 Term will be provided with a date to move to their Fall-Winter Room in August and will be permitted to stay in their Summer Residence room until their Fall-Winter Room is ready. A mandatory $855 transition charge will be added to your account to cover the accommodation period between the end of the Summer term and the start of the Fall/Winter term.
Note: returning residents are not guaranteed a space in Fall/Winter residence and are strongly encouraged to apply early to improve their chances of getting an offer. Residents who have not received an offer for the Fall-Winter 2026-2027 Term must vacate their room at the Check-out Time. Residents who have an exam after this date and need an extended move-out must email a copy of their exam schedule to undergradres@yorku.ca.
Eligibility
Students enrolled in Fall 2025 or Winter 2026 do not need to take Summer courses to stay in Summer Residence but must be active York University students.
Undergraduate students starting in Summer 2026 must be enrolled in at least one S1, S2, or SU course during their stay.
Students with Financial Blocks are not eligible. Applications will be placed on hold until the block is cleared (see the Student Financial Services Overdue Balances page).
Students with prior behavioural infractions in Undergraduate Residence are not eligible; Residence Life will contact affected applicants.
All applications are subject to availability, with priority given to those staying for the full Summer Residence period.

Rates & Fees
Application and Cancellation Fees
- A $100 Application Fee is required for all summer residence applicants by credit card at the time of the application . Students that cancel their reservation after accepting an offer will be assessed a $150 Cancellation Fee.
Transition Charges
- A mandatory $225 transition charge will be applied for current Undergraduate Residence students staying in their room between the end of the Fall/Winter term and the start of the Summer term.
- A mandatory $855 transition charge will be applied for students remaining in Summer Residence between the end of the Summer term and the start of the Fall/Winter term.
