Provincial Attestation Letters (PALs) issued prior to January 22, 2025, have now expired. Students who applied for a study permit using a PAL issued before this date and are still awaiting a decision on their file will not require a new PAL. The Province of Ontario has not yet started issuing new PALs for 2025 but is expected to resume this process shortly. Please check back regularly for updates. If you require a new PAL, there is no need to contact York University. This process is automated, and your PAL will be available once it is issued by the Province of Ontario. Current international students in Canada will not need a PAL for study permit renewals. On November 15, 2024, IRCC announced that starting November 8, 2024, students transferring to York University from another Designated Learning Institution, including high school students, are required to apply for a new study permit.
