Hekmat Kaadan is a Chartered Professional Accountant with a broad range of experience dealing with complex Canadian and international tax matters, such as corporate structuring and reorganization, cross-border planning, strategic intellectual property planning, M&A transactions and cash flow management strategies and solutions.  

Prior to joining Bird Construction, Hekmat served as a Senior Manager of International Tax at Deloitte LLP where he assisted multinational corporations with their Canadian and international tax planning and expansion strategies. Currently, Hekmat serves as the Director of Tax at Bird Construction, one of Canada's top 10 construction companies with revenue exceeding $2 billion. He oversees and directs the management of all tax exposure and risk to the company, as well as evaluate strategic business initiatives including M&A opportunities and facilitate due diligence work. He also leads the development of long-term tax strategies and maintain efficient corporate structure, and plans and implement changes in response to international taxes and duties associated with Bird’s investments outside of Canada. 
 
Outside of professional work, Hekmat serves as the Treasurer and a Board Member at Volunteer Toronto. Volunteer Toronto aims to build caring communities through increasing the positive impact that volunteering has on the city of Toronto by connecting volunteers with over 680 organizations that need them. In 2019, nearly early half a million volunteers started their journey with Volunteer Toronto! 
 
Hekmat is also involved with CPA Canada where he facilitates the In-depth Tax Program, as well as the Tax module in the PREP program.
