A member of York University's Board of Governors. There are four categories of membership on the board: ex-officio members, internal members, external members and honorary members.

Six internal governors will include two student members, two members of Senate and two members who are full-time non-academic staff. Up to twenty-four governors will be external, with two of the external members appointed by the York University Alumni Association and the remaining members as persons who will both best serve the interests of the University and broadly reflect the public community.

Honorary membership is awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the University. Honorary members can attend meetings but do not get to vote.
