The York University English Language School (the Institute) is a unit within the School of Continuing Studies. Students in the Institute (see student (School of Continuing Studies) come from around the world to learn English, achieve their academic goals and, experience life in Canada.

Programs and courses offered through the Institute are non-degree activities. Students enrolled in an English language pathway program at the Institute will often progress to degree studies, many with offers of conditional admission.
