Third Party Billing
Synonym(s): Fees Paid by an External Sponsorship, Third-Party Billing
Third-party billing occurs when a student's fees are paid directly to York University by an external sponsor. Sponsors can include government agencies, Indigenous Community Funding, embassies or other entities.
Students who are First Nations (status), Metis or Inuit may have all or some fees paid for by their Band, Tribal Council or other funding agency. These arrangements can be coordinated through the Centre for Indigenous Student Services.
New students must pay a registration deposit to maintain their enrolment status when using an external sponsor. If the deposit is not paid by the deadline, the student will be de-enrolled from their courses.
Regardless of any commitment a sponsor or employer makes to pay a student's fees, the student is responsible for all charges to their student account. Interest fees or other sanctions will apply if the account is not settled promptly.
