Proposal Record

Synonym(s): N/A

A proposal record is the official data record of a proposal, that summarizes its attributes for tracking and reporting purposes.

A proposal is given a unique identification (ID) number to differentiate it from other proposals of any prospect (Advancement) or the same prospect. A prospect can have multiple proposals at various proposal stages at any time.

The proposal tracks the following:

  • Identity (or name or 'title') of the proposal;
  • The proposal stage;
  • The fundraising unit who owns the proposal;
  • The program (Advancement) that will benefit from the proposal;
  • The purpose towards which any donations coming from the proposal will be used;
  • The expected date the proposal will be brought in;
  • The valuation of the proposal for the campaign pipeline;
    • ask amount (proposal): how much the prospect will be asked for by this proposal
    • expected amount (proposal): how much we expect to get from the prospect if the ask is successful
    • granted amount (proposal): how much we ultimately get as a donation once the proposal is in the stage of gift decision confirmed and booked (this is determined by the amount of any transactions resulting from this proposal)
