A health plan fee is charged for the health insurance coverage provided by the York Federation of Students (YFS) or York University Graduate Student Association (YUGSA).

All full-time students are automatically enrolled in a health plan and will be charged a health plan fee. Students may opt-out if they have other coverage.

International students enrolled in a degree program and incoming exchange students at York are covered by the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) and a supplementary health plan.

Visiting students enrolled in full-time studies are also typically charged the UHIP health plan fee. For example, incoming exchange students are enrolled in UHIP and the applicable YFS or YUGSA plan.
