An action reason (Human Resources) serves to define and categorize an action code (Human Resources). Since multiple processes can result in the same action on an employee's employment record, the action reason specifies the outcome of the action.

For example, the action code of termination can be combined with any of the following or other reasons:

  • Contract end
  • Resignation
  • Elimination of position 

The action code and action reason are used to determine the applicable Record of Employment (ROE) reason code when generating an ROE for Employment Insurance.
