Grade Point Average
Synonym(s): GPA
A grade point average (GPA) is a numeric representation of the grades obtained in a set of completed courses. A GPA is a weighted average and is computed at the end of each academic session and cumulatively to degree completion.
Averages are calculated on the basis of the grade point value assigned to each letter grade, as well as the credit value associated with that course. To calculate the grade point average, the credit value and the numerical grade for the courses are used. Courses that have not been completed and do not have an assigned final grade are not included in the calculation.
