Session Exit Status
Synonym(s): N/A
A session exit status is an undergraduate student's status at the end of each session. It is a combination of academic status (undergraduate) and exit status.
A session exit status is used to prevent students from enrolling in a program. The exit status indicates the reason a student's program is not active. For example, students can be blocked because they have graduated, been debarred or failed to maintain academic standing. There are a wide variety of exit reasons, some are tailored to undergraduate or graduate programs, with others used by both.
Some exit statuses are automatically added to a student record at the end of the academic session based on the student's academic decision. Others are manually entered by staff based on a student's academic standing, change in academic decision or an administrative process such as a degree change. Only specific exit statuses appear on a student's transcript.
Examples of exit statuses include:
- Program completed: the student has either graduated or finished their non-degree program;
- Ineligible to continue or graduate: for undergraduate programs - indicates the student was debarred or otherwise is unable to continue;
- Voluntary graduate withdrawal: for graduate programs - indicates that the student voluntarily withdrew from their graduate program.
