The academic tuition fee category indicates if a student pays domestic Ontario, domestic out of province, or international tuition fees.

The domestic Ontario or domestic out-of-province tuition fee is charged based on a student's province of residence. Domestic tuition is charged to students who meet the definition set by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities Eligibility Regulations for Domestic Tuition Rates. Otherwise, students will be automatically assessed as international tuition if they are also not eligible for the domestic out-of-province tuition fee. International tuition fees are also known as visa tuition, though not all students with a visa status pay international tuition fees.

A student's tuition code can change if a student becomes eligible for either domestic fees or they apply for the change by submitting the appropriate documentation.
