Deferral
Synonym(s): N/A
A deferral is a request for permission to move the start date of an admitted student's program (academic) to the next available intake point of the program.
A student who has been admitted to York University may apply to defer their admission if they encounter legitimate difficulties in starting their program at the intended start term. An admitted student can apply for a deferral to the next available intake point of the program without having to submit a new application. Not all programs allow for a deferral request. Deferrals are not guaranteed and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
The request to defer the offer of admission to a future term is up to a maximum of 1 (one) year.
