A student parent or guardian is an individual who assumes the responsibility for providing care, support and guardianship to a student at York University.

Though some parents or guardians may have decision-making authority over the student, some may not. The student must give consent so that their parent or guardian may communicate with University staff or receive information from the University, or be the student's support person for dealing with staff at the University.
