Workers’ Justice brings workers and community members together to learn about workers' rights, examine the forces shaping their working lives and develop strategies for collective action.
Rooted in popular education, the course begins with participants’ own knowledge and experiences. Over eight in-person sessions, participants explore such issues as unsafe work, wage theft, employer interests and power, collective organizing and solidarity. The course combines discussion and shared learning with collective problem-solving.
The free course is designed for workers and community members in Jane Finch, Rexdale and Northwest Toronto, paying particular attention to racialized workers, newcomers, youth, non-unionized workers, and people in precarious work. Dinner, TTC passes and childcare are provided to participants.
Two cohorts have completed the course so far, in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026. A third cohort will begin in Fall 2026, continuing to grow this community of learning and action across Northwest Toronto.
The course is organized through a partnership between the Global Labour Research Centre at York University, the Jane/Finch Centre, and the Jane Finch Education Action Group.
