Asia Research Brief | The Socio-ecological Implications of US Food Aid in the South Korean “Miracle”

In our latest Asia Research Brief, Kyle Gibson draws on his doctoral research to examine the relationship between US Food Aid and the South Korean "miracle". He argues that when it comes to the socio-ecological aspects of South Korean growth, US Food Aid has led to some serious and persistent problems including de-peasantization and food dependence. Gibson's work goes beyond the usual focus on economic indicators of South Korean development and instead explores the South Korean "miracle" from a socio-ecological perspective.
