YCAR Graduate Associate Rohina Kabir, a graduate student in Interdisciplinary Studies, organized a virtual panel discussion focusing on the current situation of COVID-19 in Afghanistan in April. The talk is available here: t.ly/bG9f. 

“I wanted to provide interested organizations and young leaders with more information, especially those who are working towards creating change in Afghanistan and or within the Afghan diaspora from anywhere in the world,” she said. “Afghanistan is already one of the world's fragile states; they are likely to be hit the hardest by COVID-19.” 

The event featured four speakers: Aisha Khurram (former Youth Representative to the United Nations, 2019), Dr Jawed Hashmi (physician in charge of COVID-19 cases in Afghanistan), Shoaib A. Rahim (economist) and Mohammad Nader Farhad (Associate Public Information and Liaison Officer, UNHCR, Afghanistan). The speakers discussed topics ranging from the healthcare system and frontline works in the country to the impact of the pandemic on the Afghanistan Peace Talks.
