Guillaume Dandurand (Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Sherbrooke) examines India's attempts to reduce bureaucratic corruption within the systems used to distribute food rations to poor households across the country through the digitization of ration cards.

During his 17 months of field research, he discovered that while the new system did constrain corruption, it created new challenges to some rightful recipients.
