Joddi Alden holds a Master of Arts degree from Queen’s University, a Bachelor of Arts Hons. from the University of the Fraser Valley, an Associate of Arts from the University of the Fraser Valley, and Advanced French Proficiency Certification from the University of the Fraser Valley/L’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. Interested in global labour migration and the transnational trajectories of careworkers, Joddi’s research has been deeply influenced by several Asia-Pacific countries in which she has lived and worked for the past 15 years. By residing in South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines and most recently in Singapore since 2016, Joddi has had the opportunity to spearhead research at the nexus of gender, race and sexuality; she will seek to examine how the COVID-19 pandemic is continuously shaping and impacting global chains of care that inform labour and immigration policies in Southeast Asia and Canada. Joddi worked for several years as an international fashion model in Asia and North America and has published several texts influenced by her experiences in this industry. Joddi currently teaches sociology and behavioural sciences at the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and is Founder and Director of an educational consulting company.
