Rosa Woolsey is a master's student in the Social Anthropology program at York University. She is from Seattle, Washington, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. Her primary research areas are in migration, diaspora, heritage and identity. She is particularly interested in religion and language as resources for 1.5 and 2nd generation Cambodian Americans to construct a sense of cultural and ethnic identity. Her research follows the cultural ingenuity of younger generations to both preserve and adapt cultures that change through the process of migration. These academic interests and ambitions are fostered by her Cambodian and mixed-race background. With a history of archival work, journalism, oral history and ethnography, Rosa is passionate about applying qualitative research methods to reach community and justice-centred goals.
