Receive welcome emailThursday, May 9, 2024You will receive a welcome email with next steps and will be asked to confirm your participation. Faculty ROs will receive a list of all the participants within their Faculty and will be asked to confirm their support.
Confirm participationMonday, May 13, 2024You will send confirmation of your participation in the program. Once you are confirmed, we will process your GPS Specialist’s contract before the program launches and keep you updated.
Research GPS launchesTuesday, May 21, 2024 (Tuesday, July 2, 2024 for newly hired faculty)Your GPS Specialist’s contract will be processed and you can begin consulting with them and your Faculty RO to develop your proposal. See the Proposal Development & Submissions Timeline below.

Proposal Development & Submissions Timeline

Meet with GPS Specialist and Faculty RO for orientation and workplanShortly after launch date of Tuesday, May 21, 2024 (Shortly after launch date of Tuesday, July 2, 2024 for newly hired faculty)Coordinate with your GPS Specialist and Faculty RO to develop a workplan and schedule regular check-ins.
Hold regular consultations with GPS SpecialistLate May to Fall 2024 (July to Fall 2024 for newly hired faculty)As you develop your grant proposal, consult with your GPS Specialist to receive guidance and editing support. Consultations can be one-on-one without your Faculty RO, and can be in person, virtual, or by email. Initiating and organizing consultations is the responsibility of the researcher.
Check in monthly with Faculty RO (with GPS Specialist)Monthly (suggested), late May to Fall 2024 (July to Fall 2024 for newly hired faculty)Review your progress with your Faculty RO (and GPS Specialist), as well as receive technical and budget support from your Faculty RO. Check-ins can be in person, virtual, or by email.
Submit draft proposal for peer review (single Word document), along with CVTypically 30 working days prior to Faculty review deadline (see Grant Submission Deadlines below)You will receive a finalized date after your Peer Reviewers have been secured. Review final proposal and budgetTypically 1 week prior to Faculty review deadline (see Grant Submission Deadlines below) Review your final proposal and budget with your GPS Specialist and Faculty RO, and prepare an ORS checklist.

*The submission deadline for Peer Review is typically 30 working days prior to the Faculty Review deadline, though it may be longer if requested by the Faculty.
**ORS does not provide technical reviews of SSHRC IG, NSERC DG, and CIHR PG applications (other than ensuring the ORS checklist is properly signed), so please note the Faculty review deadlines as they are important for reviewing applications for York commitments and for facilitating Faculty signatures on the ORS checklists. ORS does provide technical reviews of SSHRC PDG applications so please note both ORS deadlines for this grant.
