The SSRP is enhancing the student experience, starting with future students

Applying to post-secondary can be a daunting process. With different application methods and a variety of tools and systems to interact with, it can be quite the journey from completing an application to finally accepting an offer. Recognizing the importance of having seamless systems and processes in place, it’s clear that changes are needed at York. That’s where the Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) project comes in!

CRM is one of seven Student Systems Renewal Program (SSRP) projects working to improve the student experience through the transformation of business and technology systems across York. It will be used to manage the recruitment, application and admission of students, and connect them to the advising supports they need. By replacing aging technologies and creating a more integrated experience from prospect to applicant, student, graduate, and continuous learner, CRM will improve processes to increase efficiencies, create and manage student interactions, and offer meaningful insights that will help York better cater to students’ needs.

Naturally, the launch of CRM will begin at the start of the student lifecycle with its first release supporting future students in Summer 2023 and a later release for current students. By the time both releases are completely rolled out, every student will utilize services through CRM.

Improving the student experience also means improving the experience of those who support and engage with students on a regular basis – staff and faculty members. For its first release, CRM will offer students, faculty and staff one place to access new functions related to recruitment, applications, admissions and onboarding.

So, what kind of new benefits will you see in the first release?

  • Better functionalities to help applicants save and complete their applications at a later time
  • Easier file uploads
  • Seamless payment options
  • More effective communication opportunities between faculty, staff and students
  • Improved admission and assessment reviews
  • Integrated organization of planning, promotions and registrations for York events
  • Logical tracking of student records

...and so much more!

Leading up to CRM’s first release, there’s still lots of important work to be done but the SSRP is well on its way to having the new tool available for enrolment in the Fall 2024 semester.

We will continue to share updates with you, including a first look at CRM from a user perspective and information on its second release for current students.
