No, the Microlecture Series in Sustainable Living is free and open access. Anybody can participate and become an Ambassador in Sustainable Living.

No, the Microlecture Series in Sustainable Living is standalone opportunity to learn from six of York’s world-renowned academic experts. It is not an academic program credit. 

No, after watching all six Microlectures and correctly answering the three test questions for each lecture, then committing to make positive sustainability-focused changes in your daily life, you will have completed the Microlecture Series and will earn a first-of-its-kind Digital Badge in Sustainable Living.

You can explore York University’s Faculty websites and discover more about York’s world-renowned academic experts and the work they are doing to create positive change. 

With its innovative format, the Microlecture Series in Sustainable Living provides flexible opportunities for completion. With each lecture running under seven minutes in duration, you could complete the Series in under an hour. However, you do not need to complete the Series in one session, and have the opportunity to revisit the Microlectures at your own pace?

You can access and download your Digital Badge from the Manage Your Badges page in the Microlecture Series, and add it to your LinkedIn profile.

To add your Digital Badge to your LinkedIn profile, you must follow these steps: 

  1. Access the Manage Your Badges page in the Microlecture Series and click on your Digital Badge in Sustainable Living.
  2. Copy the URL from the web page containing your Digital Badge. This is your “Credential URL” 
  3. Log in to your LinkedIn account and navigate toward the bottom to your profile's “Licenses & certifications” section. Click on the + icon to begin adding your Digital Badge.
  4. Input the following information in the “Add license or certification” popup: 
    • Name: York University Digital Badge in Sustainable Living 
    • Issuing Organization: Select “York University” 
    • Credential URL: Paste the Credential URL from your Digital Badge page on Moodle. 
    • NOTE: You may add the month and year your Digital Badge was issued. Your Digital Badge does not have an Expiration date. 
    • OPTIONAL: Associate at least one skill, such as Sustainability, to this license or certification. 
    • Click “Save” 

If you created a new account to continue for the Microlecture Series, try using the “Lost password?” link. If you are using a Google or Microsoft account you may need to address log in issues with those services directly. 

To continue using your existing Passport York account, log in using Microsoft with your email in the ‘account@yorku.ca’ format.

Check your Junk or Spam folder(s) to ensure it wasn’t sent there.

In each module you will need to answer all three questions that appear throughout the video correctly and “Submit” your answers at the end of the video for progress to be marked as complete.

If your Microlecture Series is displaying green completion bars for all seven modules you should receive you Digital Badge via email. Check your Junk or Spam folder(s) to ensure it wasn’t sent there. You can also visit the Manage Your Badges page in the Microlecture Series to access and download your Digital Badge.

Once you have watched each video and submitted your correct answers to complete a module, your progress will be saved. You can leave the Microlecture Series and begin another video at any time.

At this time the Microlecture Series platform can only track progress when you watch a video in its entirety and answer each question correctly. If you leave a video part way through watching you will need to restart that video.

To view Microlecture videos with French subtitles you must be logged in to the French version of the Microlecture Series in Sustainable Living.

Once you have started watching a video, click on the Closed Caption button in the embedded YouTube video and select "French."

Videos must be viewed as embedded in the Microlecture Series platform in order for questions to appear for progress to be tracked.
