Every September, YFile introduces and welcomes those joining the York University community, and those with new appointments. Glendon Campus will welcome four new faculty members this fall: Maya Chacaby, Alison Harvey, Marlon Valencia and Remi Vives.
Glendon Campus Interim Principal Ian Roberge has issued a message to the community on the appointment of Colin Coates as associate principal, research and graduate studies, starting July 1.
Supposedly outmoded modes of doing and making continue to flourish via online platforms during the global pandemic. In this light, Glendon’s Gabriel Levine is celebrating his new book, “Art and Tradition in a Time of Uprisings” with a virtual launch on May 21.
This event has been postponed. The next event in the Glendon Global Debates series will investigate the housing market in Toronto, and how the demand for housing is increasing at a faster than the supply of housing available, resulting in residents and newcomers to Toronto being priced out of the city.
Glendon summer tennis camp participants will be taken through a series of lessons designed to introduce new skills and build on the lessons from the day before. Extended-care service is also available at an additional cost. A fresh lunch will be served each day to all campers. The tennis camps also provide a daily swim in the club’s indoor pool.
Cindy Blackstock, executive director of the First Nations Child and Family Caring Society, will share her expertise in child welfare and Indigenous rights during the John W. Holmes Memorial Lecture on March 4 at York University’s Glendon Campus.
A three-day national colloquium on Canada’s Indigenous language policies was held at Glendon Campus Dec. 6 to 8. The colloquium was convened to discuss the state of Indigenous language policy and address challenges with the new federal legislation contained in Bill C-91.
Across the Glendon Campus, technology has become more readily available and courses frequently include an online component or an eLearning option. One of the key participants in supporting technology enhanced learning is the Glendon Digital Media Lab. The lab offers students and faculty access to professional media hardware and software and direct, hands-on experience in digital production.
