Latest News: January 8, 2001 - 7:30pm

Bargaining with Units 1 and 3 resumed Saturday, January 6th and has been continuing since that time. Substantive discussions have occurred and real progress has been made. We continue to be hopeful that settlements with Units 1 and 3 can be reached soon. CUPE 3903, Unit 2 contract faculty accepted the University's offer on Jan. 5 and signed a renewal collective agreement effective Jan. 5, 2001.

What happens Tuesday?

There will be no make up classes until the Senate Executive Committee declares that the disruption has ended and announces when the formal period of additional instruction will begin. Senate Executive will do so at the earliest possible time. The University is encouraging all instructors to plan for the beginning of remediation and to be in contact with their students by e-mail, phone, etc.

Instruction has begun in selected programs including Atkinson Nursing, Education Consecutive Program, Schulich MBA/IMBA and year 3 and 4 BBA/IBBA courses, and Osgoode Hall Law School.

CUPE 3903 continues to picket University campuses. People should expect delays and exercise due caution and patience.

York community members arriving by car at the York Campus are advised that arrangements have been made for them to use local privately-operated lots, such as the Black Creek Pioneer Village lot, which is within walking distance of   campus. Current York decal holders may obtain a cash refund upon presentation of  their Black Creek parking receipt to the York Parking Office in the East Office Building. This means the external shuttle bus in no longer in service. Internal shuttle buses will continue to run on the York campus starting from the pick-up location opposite the 6A lot  while mediated negotiations continue with CUPE 3903. For additional information, please call 416 736-5404.

All members of the community are encouraged to continue to check this Web site and the Information Phone lines (416) 736-5600 and 1-866-267-1100 for updates on the progress of negotiations.
