Upcoming Events
Emotion-Focused therapy and Eating Disorders
There is a growing interest in the role of emotions in eating disorders and YUPC is pleased to host a 2 day training event, Emotion-Focused Therapy and Eating disorders, on March 26 & 27, 2010. In this workshop, Dr. Les Greenberg will provide the rationale for Emotion-focused Therapy and describe its basic principles and techniques during the 1st morning. Dr. Dolhanty will then lead the remaining day and half that will focus on the application of emotion-focused therapy to eating disorders. This will include video illustrations and skill development for clinicians that focuses on how to help the eating-disordered individual come to embrace and manage her emotional life, enhance her motivation for change and enable her to relinquish the eating disorder as a way of coping.

Motivational Interviewing for Anxiety
Although anxiety disorders can be highly disabling, many clients are ambivalent about change and reluctant to engage productively in treatment. Motivational Interviewing (MI: Miller & Rollnick, 2002) is a brief, client-centered therapy aimed at understanding and resolving ambivalence about change. This workshop will provide an introduction to MI and show you how to integrate MI techniques with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in the treatment of anxiety so you can help clients identify the road-blocks that keep them stuck and help them enhance their motivation for change.
