York University Emergency Bursaries

York University Emergency Bursaries

We know that many of you are going through difficult, unexpected financial situations due to COVID-19, whether it is paying for rent, lost wages from your part time jobs, paying for travel to your home countries or other expenses. York University has established two bursaries to help students who require immediate short-term financial relief because of unexpected expenses in March and April 2020.

The York University Emergency Bursary is open to all domestic and international undergraduate students to help cover short term immediate needs such as rent, food and lost wages due to workplace closures.

Graduate students can apply for assistance through the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) Emergency Bursary.

The York University Emergency Travel Disruption Bursary is open to undergraduate and graduate students who are/were on international study programs at a partner university or institution in the Fall/Winter 2019-2020 academic session. It is also open to international students who have left Toronto to travel to their home countries. This bursary will help cover costs related to flight change fees, flights booked to travel home, costs for accommodation due to travel restrictions, and more.
You may apply for both bursaries if you meet the eligibility criteria of each one.

Please visit the Student Financial Services website for full details on these bursaries along with information on how to apply.

York University is committed to supporting students through this time. Although classes have moved to alternate formats, the whole York community is working hard to ensure you still have virtual access to services and supports. If you need support, please reach out.

Sincerely,

Lucy Fromowitz
