Feminist City Writing in the Extraordinary and the Emergent: Notes from GenUrb's Delhi CRT

In this talk, the speakers will outline the process of 'citywriting' from a feminist perspective, foregrounding care at every step of the research process.

Swagata Basu is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Geography at S.S.V College, Hapur, India. Professor Basu’s research interests include violence against women and intimate partner violence as well as issues related to women’s right to the city. She works closely with women’s organizations that address the livelihood issues of women in low-income urban neighbourhoods.

Anindita Datta is Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Geography, Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi. Her research interests are in feminist geography, conceptual traditions in geography and the social geography of India, with a particular interest in geographies of care, Indigenous feminisms, spaces of resistance, everyday geographies, and issues of gendered and epistemic violence.

This event is presented by the City Institute, the York Centre for Asian Research, and the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change.
