What if I find an opportunity on my own?

Leading up to finding an opportunity on your own, you are welcome to consult with the EE Office about which opportunities might be deemed appropriate. Please connect with the EE Office (ee@glendon.yorku.ca) to get a copy of the Placement Approval Form which outlines the eligibility criteria.

If you find an opportunity on your own that you would like to have validated for the course, you will need to:

  1. Receive an offer letter from a company/an organization, indicating you have been selected in the recruiting process.
  2. Avoid accepting the letter until you have sent a description of the role to ee@glendon.yorku.ca.
  3. Await approval from the department for the opportunity.
  4. If approved, proceed to accepting and signing the offer letter with the company/organization.
  5. If rejected, proceed to respectfully declining the opportunity* and continue searching for a new opportunity.

*If your proposed opportunity is rejected, you are still welcome to accept the opportunity for your own professional/academic/personal development, but it will not count towards credits.

Depuis plus de vingt ans, la Coopérative radiophonique de Toronto (CRT) gère les principaux médias francophones de la région :

  • CHOQ FM 105.1 — la seule radio communautaire franco-torontoise
  • GrandToronto.ca — portail d’information web

Organisme à but non lucratif, la CRT joue un rôle central dans la dynamisation de la vie francophone à Toronto.


Description du poste

Dans le cadre de son stage au sein de la Coopérative radiophonique de Toronto, la stagiaire sera intégrée aux équipes de CHOQFM 105.1 et de GrandToronto.ca et participera activement à la production de contenus journalistiques multiplateformes destinés à la communauté francophone du Grand Toronto.

Les principales tâches et responsabilités confiées au stagiaire comprendront notamment :

  • Recherche, veille médiatique et identification de sujets d’actualité locale touchant les communautés francophones et francophiles du Grand Toronto ;
  • Couverture journalistique d’événements communautaires, culturels, institutionnels et politiques locaux web et ou radio ;
  • Réalisation d’entrevues avec des acteurs communautaires, artistes, entrepreneurs, représentants institutionnels et membres de la société civile ;
  • Rédaction d’articles journalistiques destinés à la publication sur GrandToronto.ca selon les standards professionnels du journalisme numérique ;
  • Préparation, rédaction et animation de segments diffusés sur les ondes de CHOQFM 105.1 ;
  • Participation à la production radio : préparation de conducteurs, recherche sonore, montage audio, captation et soutien technique de base ;
  • Création et adaptation de contenus multiplateformes pour les réseaux sociaux et les plateformes numériques du média ;
  • Production de contenus audio et vidéo courts destinés à la diffusion web et aux plateformes sociales ;
  • Participation aux réunions éditoriales, aux conférences de rédaction et à la planification des contenus ;
  • Développement de compétences en journalisme numérique, narration multiplateforme et utilisation d’outils technologiques liés à la production médiatique contemporaine ;
  • Participation à certains projets d’innovation médiatique, notamment liés à l’intégration d’outils numériques et d’intelligence artificielle appliqués aux médias communautaires.

Le stage permettra à la personne étudiante d’acquérir une expérience concrète dans un environnement médiatique francophone minoritaire, en développant des compétences pratiques en journalisme radio, web et multiplateforme, tout en participant activement à la mission d’information locale et de représentation de la diversité francophone du Grand Toronto.

EXPLORUM offre des programmes basés sur l’apprentissage STIAM ludiques et dynamiques en français aux enfants francophones ou qui apprennent le français. Les programmes consistent en des séries d’ateliers « main à la pâte » que les enfants font individuellement, tel que faire une voiture, concocter de la glu, explorer ce qu’on a dans le corps, construire une catapulte, faire un agamographe ou un kaléidoscope ou en groupe tel qu’un défi de construction… Les ateliers sont présentés soit en présentiel soit en virtuel selon la préférence du client.

Responsabilités
  • Assister au développement et déploiement du plan marketing pour les réseaux sociaux, principalement Facebook et Instagram et gérer les communications électroniques
  • Planifier les postes de média sociaux et mail à envoyer au courant de l’année scolaire pour augmenter les ventes d’ateliers.
  • Suggérer et possiblement apporter des changements au site web
  • Autres responsabilités selon l’initiative et les compétences
Compétences requises :
  • Multi-tasking, organisation et planification
  • Capacité à gérer plusieurs projets simultanément, être organisé et savoir bien planifier son travail
    Bonnes habiletés en vente de services
  • Travail indépendant | Débrouillardise et dynamisme
  • Bilingue (de préférences, mais pas obligatoire) : français et anglais
  • Excellente maîtrise MS Office et des réseaux sociaux (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). Connaissance
    de WordPress est un atout.
Media sociaux
  • A l’aise sur plusieurs plateformes de médias sociaux (essentiellement YouTube, Instagram, Facebook et LinkedIn)
  • Rediger, poster et éditer des publications sur ces plateformes Marketing digital
  • Familiarité avec Meta : Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads
  • Connaissance en revue analytique un atout – trafic sur le site web, performance des publicités, recherche marketing
  • Compétence en recherche marketing, analyses de données, recherches et comparaison de compétition
Base de données
  • Expérience ou connaissance en gestion de base de données marketing

  • Confirmation et comparaison des renseignements de sources différentes

About Vesta Chat

Vesta Chat has a grand vision of transforming Business to Consumer(B2C) communication. Our first entry to market is focused on health care clinics, in particular hearing clinics. Currently VestaChat.com is a website that allows hearing clinics to send + receive text messages from their computer to patients’ cell phones (and vice versa).

 Vesta Chat is a small start-up company looking to scale. It currently is run by its founder and business development officer. The current role would involve working directly with Vesta Chat’s founding team members to help grow the company. If you are interested in the entrepreneurial/ start-up world, this is the role for you, as you will get firsthand experience building/growing a new venture.


Key Responsibilities

We’re seeking a motivated student intern with an interest and skill set in marketing and digital media. This internship offers handson experience in building brand awareness, increasing usership, and supporting client growth.

As a Marketing/Business Development Intern at our early-stage startup, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the growth of a company that’s redefining how healthcare clinics communicate with their patients through secure, efficient text messaging solutions.

In this dynamic, hands-on role, you’ll be involved in a wide range of marketing responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Marketing Initiatives: Develop and execute creative campaigns to reach our target market (healthcare clinics and patients).
  • Social Media Management: Create and schedule engaging posts across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook,etc).
  • Video Editing & Content Creation: Produce short videos, graphics, and written content to showcase our service.
  • Ad Copywriting: Draft compelling ad copy for website, digital campaigns, newsletters, and promotional materials.
  • Liaison & Communication: Act as a bridge between our service and end users, gathering feedback and improving engagement.
  • Analytics & Reporting (bonus skill): Track social media and campaign performance, providing insights for improvement.

This role is ideal for a student looking to apply academic knowledge in a real-world startup environment. You’ll gain exposure to a broad spectrum of marketing functions while working closely with the founder and contributing to high-impact decisions from day one. 


Skills & Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or related field
  • Strong creative skills (social media, video editing, Canva/Adobe tools, etc)
  • Excellent communication and writing abilities
  • Self-motivated, organized, and eager to learn
  • Passionate about healthcare, technology, or digital marketing
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify potential issues and offer innovative solutions
  • Interest in startups, technology, healthcare, and/or SaaS businesses is a plus.
