Applied Research Practicum: PSYC 4260 3.0/6.0

Open to fourth-year Honours students enrolled in the Cognitive Neuropsychology Stream, this elective course offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience conducting applied research in a professional setting. Through a practicum placement, students plan and carry out an empirical research project, typically using a quasi-experimental design, such as a case study, while developing skills in data collection, analysis, interpretation, and research communication.

Students are responsible for securing their own practicum placement. Suitable host organizations may include hospitals, mental health institutes, research laboratories, and other settings that support applied psychological research. Once a placement has been secured, students must notify the Psychology Program for approval. After the placement has been approved, the Experiential Education Office must be informed so that the required documentation can be completed in collaboration with both the student and the host organization.

Transform your academic research training into real-world experience while contributing to meaningful projects in healthcare, mental health, and research environments.
