Student Leadership and Engagement Week

Experience the Glendon student life by participating in a series of events throughout the week! From Tuesday March 28th to Monday April 3, the GL Zone offers the following events to bring together Glendon students – established and aspiring student leaders and others who want to engage in campus life that make Glendon a diverse and inclusive community!

Time: 2:30pm - 4:30pm

Place: Hilliard Residence D124, Glendon Campus

Participate in our first ever Medicine Bag Making Workshop at Glendon! Facilitated by Nancy Louit-Gonzalez, York University’s Traditional Counselor, this workshop is an opportunity to learn about traditional indigenous medicines and make your own medicine bag. The event is open to indigenous students and students who have ties to indigenous communities. Refreshments will be served.

Time: 12pm - 2pm

Place: YH B125

Interested in connecting with other international students? Want to welcome new international students to Glendon in the fall to make them feel at home? Organize international themed events on and off-campus? The last of the weekly GL Connect Drop-in sessions this term will focus on discussing what’s ahead for the International Student Club. Come join us as we begin our discussion about how the club might be a valuable addition to the GL student life!

Time: 2pm - 4pm

Place: YH A300 (Skyroom)

This event will bring together black, African and Caribbean identifying students to share their stories of migration, identities and perspectives as Glendon students.  The event will present rich and diverse histories – histories that are personal and at the same time grounded in the history of migration over the centuries.

Join the panel of students in the discussion that will showcase the diversity of black communities – culturally, and linguistically, and the journeys that have brought students to Glendon from across Canada and the world. Participants are welcome to share their stories and engage in the dialogue. This event will be held bilingually. This is an opportunity to come connect with peers and enjoy Caribbean speciality food! Register here.

Time: 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Place: YH C202

Are you involved in one or more initiatives at Glendon? Do you want a platform to develop more and an opportunity to network? If you answered yes to both questions, join the Student Roundtable as a speaker.

If you’re not yet involved at Glendon, but you want to be, you can also attend to learn more about what it’s like being a student leader at Glendon, network and mingle! Light refreshments will be provided. Register here.

Time: 4pm - 6pm

Place: Ballroom (Manor)

Join us as we celebrate our student leaders who have inspired others and made an impact on the Glendon student life! This will be the first in-person ceremony in three years and a great opportunity for students to gather as we wrap up the academic year. This event is open to all Glendon students, faculty and staff. Refreshments will be served. Register here.
