Combining brain imaging with the study of aging and neurological conditions, our lab examines how different forms of memory are represented in the brain and how they contribute to other functions, from future decision-making to spatial navigation. We are harnessing this knowledge to help individuals overcome memory loss.

---
What is the role of the hippocampus and its supporting structures (such as the ventromedial prefrontal cortex) in spatial navigation, mental imagery, and episodic future thinking?
To what extent do hippocampal dentate gyrus and CA3 subfields support perception and memory precision across the adult lifespan and in clinical populations, including those with depression or brain injury?
How do hippocampal and prefrontal structures support detailed versus schematic representations of past experiences, spatial environments, and future imagination?
How does emotional affect and episodic future thinking contribute to reward valuation (i.e., delay discounting) in laboratory and real-world contexts?
