Employee Relations

Reporting to the Office of Labour Relations, the Department of Employee Relations provides professional services that promote and facilitate positive relationships on matters related to non-academic employment at York.

The mandate of Employee Relations includes provision of the following services:
Contract negotiations related to the YUSA-1, YUSA-2, CUPE 1356, CUPE 1356-1, CUPE 1356-2, IUOE collective agreements.

• Interpretation and administration of non-academic collective agreement provisions
• Acting as the University’s primary point of contact with all non-academic associations and unions
• Positive, solution-oriented dispute resolution
• Training and support to managerial staff on issues and concerns relating to employment legislation and performance management.
