The stories of Greek and Cypriot Canadians have a home, now in digital form.
We are thrilled to announce the official launch of the HHF Greek Canadian Archives Oral History Collection. This platform is the culmination of a labour of care: collecting, preserving, and presenting the voices of individuals who journeyed, settled, and built a Hellenic community in Canada.
What you will find in the website:
Over a hundred oral history interviews in Greek and English covering migration, memory, identity, and activism.
Four thematic projects: Greek Canadian Stories, Childhood Narratives of Greek Canadians from the 1940s, Film as Mediator: Cultivating a Cypriot Canadian Community Audiovisual Media Archive, and Musical Geographies and the Greek Canadian Experience in Toronto: Places, Cultures, & Diasporic Identities.
Indexed categories (Migration, Culture & Tradition, Working Life, etc.) to help you navigate by theme
We invite you to visit, listen, share, and reflect. The portal is for everyone: researchers, youth, families, and anyone curious to learn about Greek Canadian History!
A special thanks to everyone who contributed; narrators, interviewers, collaborators, and supporters. This is your history, our history!
