Oral History Collection
The Collection hosts more than a hundred life stories of Greeks and Cypriots in Canada spanning from the early 20th century to the present day, exploring personal experiences and memories of migration, work and family life, community building, and cultural identity.
The HHF GCA Oral History Collection is a digital public history initiative developed by the Hellenic Heritage Foundation Greek Canadian Archives. The Collection hosts more than a hundred life stories of Greeks and Cypriots in Canada spanning from the early 20th century to the present day, exploring personal experiences and memories of migration, work and family life, community building, and cultural identity. It serves as a platform for researchers to explore resources illuminating Greek Canadians’ varied experiences. The Collection of various projects, which include the “Greek Canadian Stories” a research supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), the “Childhood Narratives of Greek Canadians from the 1940s,” the “Film as Mediator: Cultivating a Cypriot Canadian Community Audiovisual Media Archive,” and the "Musical Geographies and the Greek Canadian Experience in Toronto: Places, Cultures, & Diasporic Identities." These interviews are a valuable resource for preserving the community’s cultural heritage and sharing it with future generations.
