Humairah Saleem, a first-generation Canadian born to Sri Lankan Muslim immigrants, is deeply committed to understanding and addressing the challenges faced by marginalized Muslim and racialized minority populations. Her profound dedication, evident throughout her life, steered her academic journey, culminating in a BA in Human Rights and Equity Studies. Currently embarking on her first year in the MA programme in Development Studies, Humairah is driven by an interest in exploring Islamophobic tendencies both nationally and globally. In relation to her broader interests, her MA research delves into the impact of health policies on minority communities during the COVID-19 pandemic in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Through this research, she seeks to contribute valuable insights into the unique challenges faced by marginalized communities and the implications of health policies on minority populations.
