Printing - Frequently Asked Questions for OSX

  1. On my Mac OS X computer, my print job is stalled with message "Hold for Authentication”. What should I do?

    1. OS X users who have configured a FAS printer and saved their FAS userid/password information in Keychain may occasionally encounter and a problem after changing their FAS (AD) password.
    2. Print jobs to a FAS printer will remain in the local printer queue with the message “Hold for Authentication”. The old FAS password remains unchanged in Keychain. You can reset this in one of two ways:

    3. Restart the print job by clicking on the circular arrow to the right of the job in the print queue.
This will launch the authentication dialog allowing you to enter the new FAS password.
Be sure to check the “Remember this password in my keychain” checkbox.

    4. Launch Keychain and locate the password entry for that printer. You can delete this entry. Any subsequent attempt to print to that printer will present the authentication dialog allowing you to enter (and save to Keychain) the new FAS password.
