Techlibrary - Webcam Kit Lending Policy

Liability

The patron agrees to assume all legal liability for the cost of repair or replacement in the event of loss due to theft, damage, negligence or misuse.

Eligibility

York University faculty members may borrow a webcam kit for the purpose of teaching classes, and York University administrative staff may borrow a webcam kit for the purpose of conducting work meetings. Patrons must come to the UIT Service Desk in Steacie building with a YUcard a departmental budget number and be in good standing with the Library when signing out the webcam kit – users must have no outstanding fines or liabilities over $20. The tech library requires this information to help prevent webcam theft.

Limits

Each patron will be permitted to borrow one webcam at a time.

Availability

Webcams will be made available on a first‐come, first‐serve basis at the UIT Service Desk (136 Campus Walk). Loan Period:

  • The loan period for a webcam is for the term. Webcams are due on the 15th of December, or the 15th of April, or the 15th of August before the UIT Service Desk closes.

Webcam Agreement Form

When first‐time users sign out a webcam, they will be required to read and sign a “York University TechLibrary Webcam Agreement form.” The form will be kept on file for future reference as required.

Renewals

Webcams may be borrowed by teaching instructors and administrative staff for the term. At the end of the loan period, the patron must bring the webcam back to the UIT Service Desk in person at the Steacie building. Patrons will be permitted to check out another webcam (a maximum of one time) at the start of the next term if there are no other patrons waiting for a webcam

Advance Booking

Holds or advance bookings are not available

Fines

Overdue fines of $500 and will be charged to the department via budget number. Borrowing privileges will be suspended until the fine is paid by the department.

Replacement and Damage Fines

The patron and home department assumes full financial responsibility.

Returns

Webcams must be returned in‐person at the UIT Service Desk (136 Campus Walk). Patrons will be required to wait a couple of minutes while staff check that the Webcam and accessories have been returned in working order.
