Tuition and Fees
Academic fees are determined with reference to the formula fee schedule set by the Province of Ontario. Accordingly, any adjustments to the formula fee schedule by the Province of Ontario will result in adjustment to the University's academic fees. The University will endeavour to inform the student community immediately upon any such adjustment.
Please keep your tuition below $1000.00 owing as your balance, to prevent you from being blocked from registering for your next session.
Fees are paid in September for the fall term, in January for the winter term, and in May for the summer term. A Registration Fee of $15.00 is charged for each of the three terms. Students may have their fees deducted from their T.A., R.A. or G.A. salary by filling out a payroll deduction form in Graduate Studies, 230 York Lanes. In cases of hardship, it may be possible to pay in installments or to work out a scheme for deferring fees. Sofia Kirschner, Student Affairs Officer, in 230 York Lanes, is the person to meet with regarding tuition payments and any balance owing.
Please remember to make your payments. Consult the Fee section of the Student Financial Services for further information, including the fees and fee refund schedules.
York's residency requirement requires MA students (full-time or part-time) to pay as a minimum, the equivalent of one year full-time fees. Doctoral students (full-time or part-time) must pay as a minimum, the equivalent of two years full-time fees.
Refunds
Fees refunds/credit calculations are based on complete withdrawal from a term, not withdrawal from individual courses. This is because fees are calculated according to a student's program and full-time or part-time enrolment status/activity level. Fees are not calculated on a per course basis.
