Facilities and Resources for all Graduate Students
As a graduate student at York University, you have a variety of outstanding of resources available to you to help in your pursuit of a degree.
Libraries/ArchivesScott Library
This is the largest of York's many libraries. It contains thousands of books, journals, periodicals, and other documents, including a very large collection pertaining to Film & Video and the other Fine Arts.
Scott Library is also home to the Graduate Reading Room, a quiet study space for graduate students.
Other Libraries
Other libraries at York include Steacie Science, Archives and Special Collections, Law, Administrative Studies/Government Documents, and the Nellie Langford Rowell Centre (Women's Studies Library). Inter-university loans, extended loan privileges, and library computing services are just a few of the many library services available to assist students with their research.
Housed in five buildings, York’s collections have more than 6.5 million items, 150,000 E-books and 20,000 online journals. Our world-class libraries provide rich collections, value-added services, excellent librarians and knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Innovations include: a designated graduate student reading room; research skills workshops; online tutorials; discipline and course-specific guests lectures and workshops; Ask A Librarian chat reference; RACER, a library resource sharing system, allowing interlibrary loan users the ability to search multiple library catalogues at the same time and track the progress of their requests; and RefWorks, a Web-based bibliographic citation software and RefShare, a RefWorks component that will let you share your RefWorks folders with research partners or students.
The Leslie Frost Library on Glendon campus houses an extensive bilingual collection.The Clara Thomas Archives and Special Collections contains a rich research collection for curricular and ongoing scholarly research.

Centralized printing for Graduate Students registered in courses
Graduate students registered in courses can print 3,000 free pages per academic year.

York University Card
The YU Card is York's official photo identification and campus debit card. The YU card will enable you to access services such as the Library, recreation facilities, photocopying, student discounts and more. To find out how to obtain your YU card, please visit http://www.yorku.ca/yucard/.
Graduate Students' Association (GSA)
The GSA is the representative student organization for the graduate population at York. The GSA has made low-cost extended health coverage available to all graduate students, as well as a number of grants and funds to which graduate students may apply. The GSA represents graduate students at Senate and numerous other Faculty of Graduate Studies committees. The GSA produces a handbook annually which will be available early in the fall term. The handbook contains a wealth of useful information regarding York and the surrounding area. Please visit the GSA Offices at Suite 325, Student Centre Complex.
Graduate Student Conference and Board Rooms
Located directly above the Graduate Students’ Association office on the fourth floor of the Student Centre are a large open conference room and two boardrooms. The boardrooms can be booked for smaller meetings or study groups. The rooms’ availability can be checked via the calendar at www.yugsa.ca. Email and Computing Services
Email
Students must set up a York email account for all departmental emails. This can be done online or in person by visiting the Computing Commons at the William Small Centre.
NOTE: All official communications from the Faculty of Graduate Studies, the Graduate Program Offices, or any other University office will only be sent to official York University e-mail addresses. If a graduate student misses information because he/she has not yet opened up a York University e-mail account, the responsibility will rest with the student. Students will be expected to check their York account on a regular basis for official communications.
Computers
A computer with internet connection is available for student use in the Student Lounge (CFT 201). Note: this computer does not include a printer. However, there are numerous computer labs with printing and internet capabilities located throughout campus.

Internet Resources
Individuals in the York Graduate English Community are invited to submit and maintain Link-lists which they find useful in their research and teaching. As well, internet resources used for a course can be made available on this page.
