Community Update #58 - Confirming all planned in-person classes will proceed Monday, September 13

Dear Colleagues,

I want to express my sincere appreciation for your efforts to ensure a successful launch of the Fall 2021 term. As always, in keeping with the most current public health guidance, it has been wonderful to see students, faculty and staff beginning the safe return to our campuses this week.

We look forward to bringing all the rest of our classes that have been planned for in-person delivery onto campus starting on Monday, September 13.

In addition to launching over 4,000 courses this week, we have held many well received orientation events including over 120 on campus, in careful compliance with health and safety protocols, for which students have expressed their strong appreciation.

Thousands of community members have used YU Screen to complete daily screening before attending campus and to upload their proof of vaccination. This week, more than 15,000 community members uploaded their information, showing a 97% vaccination rate. Testing sites at our Keele and Glendon campuses are operational and many community members are accessing this service and the ongoing vaccination clinics.  The York University community has come together once again to meet the unique needs of the moment, and our faculty and instructors have been instrumental in these efforts.

For those of you scheduled to commence teaching in person next week, please remember to check out the BetterTogether website for the latest safety advice, protocols, and resources.

Sincerely,

Lisa Philipps

Provost & Vice-President Academic
