Aviva Weizman

Aviva Weizman is a PhD student in Ryerson and York’s joint Communication and Culture Program and a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Newcomers in Calgary, AB. She has almost 10 years of non-profit experience and has conducted community-based research in Egypt, the Post-Yugoslav space and Canada.  Aviva’s doctoral work explores the ways in which both new and old media narratives construct knowledge claims, nationalism(s), global identities, and political imaginaries.
