Dr. Timothy Bonney Oppong is an Epidemiologist and Public Health Professional with more than a decade of experience in research, academia, and community health. He holds a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) in Epidemiology and Health Statistics from Zhengzhou University, China, and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Luzon, Philippines.
His research focuses on health policy review, social and cultural determinants of health as evidence-based approaches for advancing health equity.
Previously, Dr. Oppong served as a Public Health Personnel with Maamobi General Hospital, Ghana (2014 – 2015) and as Lecturer and Co-Lead of the Research Directorate of the Faculty of Health and Allied Sciences at Pentecost University, Ghana (2017 – 2025), where he taught courses in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Promotion, and Research Methods. He coordinated faculty research initiatives, mentored and supervised both undergraduate and graduate students, and led studies addressing infection prevention, hypertension, and youth health behavior.
Beyond academia, Dr. Oppong is the Founder and Director of ROTI, a non-profit organization that provides free medical screening, immunizations, and mentorship to underprivileged children and youth in rural Ghana, reflecting his dedication to bridging research and practice through community-driven health programs.
Dr. Oppong is currently working with Dahdaleh Faculty Fellow, Dr. Godfred Boateng at the Global and Environmental Health Lab on projects describing the effects of environmental exposures and health outcomes in Ghana, Mexico and Canada.
